Gra Mar Acres Neighborhood Association

In my opinion, October is the best month of the year in Gra Mar Acres! We have two big events coming up this month:

Porchfest

This is an amazing event where we have neighbors host local musicians on their front lawn throughout the afternoon. Porchfest will be on the 26th of October. The exact time is TBD and will depend on how many folks we have sign up. Keep an eye on the Upcoming Events section of the website or the Google Calendar for updates.

Speaking of signing up, you can sign up to be an artist or a host (or both) here by Oct. 12th. Hosts/artists are in charge of their own set up but simple, acoustic performances are encouraged.

Trick-Or-Treating

As a parent of two kids, I’ve been working to make our neighborhood a place where trick-or-treaters are welcome. Each year, we create a “Trick-Or-Treating Map” complete with information like spookiness level and whether or not the houses will have alternative treats (think gluten free or nut free). You can be added to the map here! We’ve seen a big increase in the number of trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood and encourage everyone to participate – whether that means decorating and going all out or merely setting out a bowl of candy. Every effort is much appreciated.

If you live in a house that isn’t very walkable (like Saunders or Broadmoor), Bethel Nazarene Church is hosting trunk-or-treat on the 31st and has welcomed any neighbors to set up there as well. It will run from 6-8, but you can show up around 4:30/5 to set up. No need to let anyone know ahead of time – the more the merrier! If it’s rainy, they’ll set up on tables inside.
